Some of the abbreviations used in "mine" related texts.

ERW - Explosive Remnants of War, includes all explosive remains from a war.

FFE - Free From Explosives, sometimes printed on mines where the explosives have been removed and the mines are kept as  "mock-ups" on display

IED - Improvised Explosive Device, a "bomb" constructed / deployed other then for conventional military action. Examples are any "homemade" bombs.

PPE - Personal Protective Equipment used while demining, such as helmets, visors, vests, boots, gloves.

UXB - See UXO

UXO - Unexploded ordinace, explosive weapons (bombs, granades, shells, mines) that did not explode when they were employed and thereby still pose a risk of detonation.
